1. News : Automatic Facial Recognition in India

  • To empower the Indian police with information technology, India approved implementation of the National Automated Facial Recognition System (NAFRS).
  • On its implementation, it will function as a national-level search platform that will use facial recognition technology.
  • It will help to facilitate investigation of crime or for identifying a person of interest regardless of face mask, makeup, plastic surgery, beard or hair extension.

2. News :INS Chilka

  • INS Chilka is the only ab-initio training establishment of the Indian Navy, which trains more than 6600 raw recruits annually to make them able-bodied sailors.
  • INS Chilka was commissioned in 1980 and is located in Odisha in the vicinity of Chilika Lake.

2. News :Yuktdhara

  • The government launched a new geospatial planning portal called ‘Yuktdhara’ under Bhuvan.
  • This new portal will help in facilitating new MGNREGA assets with the help of remote sensing as well as geographic information system-based data
  • Ministry of Rural development has launched a new geospatial planning portal
  • Bhuvan Portal:
    • It is a type of web portal used to find and access geographic information (geospatial information) and associated geographic services (display, editing, analysis, etc.) via the Internet.
    • It shows the true borders of the country as per the information available from the Government of India.
